La technologie est une question latente des modèles postcapitalistes. Pour certains, les technologies contemporaines de l’information et des communications sont la preuve évidente de la possibilité d’une autre économie. Pour d’autres, le gigantisme de ces approches menace à la fois l’écologie et l’autonomie démocratique. Existe-il un terrain d’entente? Un usage approprié? Quel rôle la technologie devrait-elle avoir dans une société postcapitaliste?
Audrey Laurin-Lamothe animera ce panel réunissant Michal Rozworski, Ingrid Hanon et Paul Cockshott, cherchant à trouver le rôle adéquat pour la technologie dans un modèle de planification économique démocratique.
Michal Rozworski est économiste, auteur de The People’s Republic of Walmart, publié en 2019, qui montre comment de grandes multinationales comme Walmart utilisent les nouvelles technologies de l’information pour assurer une planification centralisée de leurs opérations.
Ingrid Hanon est doctorante en philosophie à l’Université d’Auckland en Nouvelle-Zélande. Elle travaille actuellement sur le besoin de transformer le modèle technologique pour promouvoir l’émancipation au travail et la créativité humaine.
Paul Cockshott est informaticien et économiste. Il enseigne à l’Université de Glasgow. Avec Allin Cottrell, il a développé un modèle de planification économique démocratique dans lequel les ordinateurs jouent un rôle central.

Technology is a latent question for postcapitalist models. For some, current information and communications technologies are clear evidence of the possibility of democratic planning. Others argue that the gigantic nature of today’s technology threatens both ecology and democratic autonomy. Is there a middle ground here? An appropriate usage? What role should technology have in a postcapitalist society?
Facilitated by Audrey Laurin-Lamothe and featuring Michal Rozworski, Ingrid Hanon and Paul Cockshott, this panel will aim to define the right place for technology in democratic economic planning.
Michal Rozworski is an economist, author of The People’s Republic of Walmart, published in 2019, which shows how multinational companies use the advances in information technology to ensure central planning of their operations.
Ingrid Hanon is a doctoral candidate in Philosophy at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Her works focuses on transforming the technological model in a way that promotes emancipation and human creativity.
Paul Cockshott isa computer scientist and an economist. professor at the University of Glasgow. He teaches at the University of Glasgow. With Allin Cottrel, he developped a democratic economic planning model where computers play a central role.
